Bosch US identifies E06 as a door-sensor circuit fault. If it returns after the manufacturer’s permitted power reset, the next step is service, not bypassing the door sensor.
Bosch US dishwasher code guidance for the displayed code. Match the full E-Nr and its own manual; the same short number in another appliance category, market or generation must not be assumed equivalent.
Stop and isolate power before permitted user maintenance, and let water cool. Watch for sharp debris. Do not reach blindly into a sump, open electrical panels or use drain-opening chemicals. Stay clear of water near electrical equipment.
Compare the behavior
A door can appear closed while its sensor circuit still reports a fault. If E06 returns after the permitted reset, arrange service. Do not bypass or hold the door sensor to make the dishwasher run.
| Observed state | Interpretation / next step |
|---|---|
| Door visibly obstructed | Correct loading when cool and stopped. |
| Door shuts, E06 returns | Closure does not rule out a circuit fault. |
| Code followed recent work | Tell service what changed. |
Code-specific checks
Record the failure in order
Photograph E06 and the full E-Nr. Note whether it appears immediately, after Start or after a recent repair. Include whether the door closes normally. This timeline is more informative than repeatedly clearing the code and telling service only that the dishwasher “does not work.”
Use the limited reset advice correctly
The US code guide permits a 30-second breaker power reset. Use an accessible, correctly identified breaker only when it is safe to do so. A successful restart is an observation, not proof that a door sensor or its circuit has been repaired. If the code repeats, preserve the recurrence rather than making reset a daily operating procedure.
A closed door does not settle a circuit fault
You can observe normal closure without removing panels. Remove an obvious item preventing closure when the machine is stopped and cool. Beyond that, a door that feels shut does not prove the sensor circuit is functioning. That conclusion is an inference from the code’s circuit-level scope, not a diagnosis of one particular part.
Reject the bypass shortcut
Search discussions ask whether E06 can be bypassed. Do not bridge contacts, tape a switch or operate with the door interlock defeated. Give a technician the exact code, model suffix and work history. A circuit fault can require model-specific checks that homeowner observations cannot safely replace.
If the warning returns
One permitted reset resolves it → monitor
E06 recurs or door is unsafe → stop and arrange service.
When to stop and get help
Only carry out maintenance permitted in your model’s manual. For service, note the full model number and suffix, displayed code, selected cycle and what happened during the checks. Leave internal wiring, gas components, pumps and safety devices to a qualified professional. A symptom alone does not identify a failed part.
