Bosch E14 Even Though Water Enters: Flow Is Not the Whole Check

Fixlume editorialSource check: October 16, 2026Bosch · dishwashers
Code meaning & immediate answer

Bosch describes E14 as a flow-meter or filling-system problem. Seeing some water enter does not establish that the required fill is being measured or completed correctly.

Bosch US dishwasher code guidance for the displayed code. Match the full E-Nr and its own manual; the same short number in another appliance category, market or generation must not be assumed equivalent.

Before you begin
Stop and isolate power before permitted user maintenance, and let water cool. Watch for sharp debris. Do not reach blindly into a sump, open electrical panels or use drain-opening chemicals. Stay clear of water near electrical equipment.

Trace the supply and the reported state

Some water entering the tub does not prove that the required amount was measured or delivered. Report both the visible inflow and the returning E14 code to support.

Observed stateInterpretation / next step

Code-specific checks

Capture the timing and supply context

Note whether E14 appears before a wash begins, during washing or near the apparent end. Photograph the exact code and full E-Nr. Reports of an end-of-cycle E14 show why timing matters, but timing alone cannot identify a sensor, valve or control part. Check whether the household supply was recently interrupted and whether an accessible shutoff is in its normal open position. Look for a visible compressed inlet hose without pulling the dishwasher from its enclosure. If the hose is inaccessible, give that limit to the installer rather than guessing that it is clear.

Interpret the apparent contradiction

Water entry is an observation of flow at one moment. A flow/filling warning concerns the appliance’s expected result or measurement. It is therefore reasonable to report both “water enters” and “E14 occurs”; neither statement cancels the other. This is an interpretation of the fault scope, not a test proving a failed flow meter.

Stop before speculative parts

The manufacturer’s E14 route calls for support. Do not order a sensor from a generic code chart, disconnect a pressurized hose for an improvised bucket test or probe a live meter circuit. Provide the exact model, code timing and whether an external supply change preceded the fault. If there is active leakage, stop and isolate supply safely.

If the warning returns

Check visible supply context → record code timing → seek exact-model support for persistent E14.

When to stop and get help

Only carry out maintenance permitted in your model’s manual. For service, note the full model number and suffix, displayed code, selected cycle and what happened during the checks. Leave internal wiring, gas components, pumps and safety devices to a qualified professional. A symptom alone does not identify a failed part.
