SHPM65Z55N Delay Start Will Not Clear: Use the Zero Setting

Fixlume editorialSource check: October 16, 2026Bosch · dishwashers
The short answer

The SHPM65Z55N manual cancels Delay Start by returning the delay display to zero and saving with Start. This is different from canceling an already running wash program.

Models covered

SHPM65Z55N with the full E-Nr /suffix and control panel matched to the cited manual revision; similar model names alone do not establish applicability.

Before you begin
Stop and isolate power before permitted user maintenance, and let water cool. Watch for sharp debris. Do not reach blindly into a sump, open electrical panels or use drain-opening chemicals. Stay clear of water near electrical equipment.

Compare the behavior

Match the documented control, cycle or feature before interpreting the result. The comparison below keeps normal model behavior separate from an unresolved fault.

Model-specific checks

Identify what the display represents

A delay setting is waiting time; a wash countdown describes a running program. Note the full display, including the delay prefix, before changing controls. The manual’s display illustration helps distinguish the two. An ordinary cycle time should not be read as a delay merely because the machine is quiet briefly.

Clear the scheduled delay

Open the door and use the Delay button until its delay value reads zero, as pictured in the manual’s Delay Start section. Press Start to save, then close within the documented Start window. Do not follow SHX78CM5N app-only instructions: this older panel has its own Delay control.

If washing has already begun

Use the manual’s separate program-cancellation procedure when you really need to end an active wash. Clearing a timer is not the same as draining and terminating that wash. Choose which result you want before holding Start for a reset.

Interpret the next display

If the delay clears but operation still pauses, recheck Start and normal door closure. If the controls refuse the documented selection, photograph the display and record the full E-Nr for Bosch. Repeated power resets can obscure which state you are actually changing. An unsuccessful timer change alone does not identify a defective control board.

What to record next

The useful distinction is between canceling a future start and ending a present wash. Both are commonly called “reset,” but they lead to different outcomes.

When to stop and get help

Only carry out maintenance permitted in your model’s manual. For service, note the full model number and suffix, displayed code, selected cycle and what happened during the checks. Leave internal wiring, gas components, pumps and safety devices to a qualified professional. A symptom alone does not identify a failed part.
