The SHX89PW75N family manual says EmotionLight is on with the door open, off with it closed, and automatically switches off after an hour with the door open. It also has an on/off preference.
Models covered
SHX89PW75N, SHV89PW73N and SHE89PW75N family manual 9001334983_A; match the full suffix and actual named-text display. Do not assume TimeLight is fitted.
Stop and isolate power before permitted user maintenance, and let water cool. Watch for sharp debris. Do not reach blindly into a sump, open electrical panels or use drain-opening chemicals. Stay clear of water near electrical equipment.
Compare the behavior
Match the documented control, cycle or feature before interpreting the result. The comparison below keeps normal model behavior separate from an unresolved fault.
| Observed state | Interpretation / next step |
|---|---|
| Door closed | Interior light off is expected. |
| Door open for an hour | Automatic timeout is documented. |
| EmotionLight preference off | Enable in the named settings menu. |
Model-specific checks
Identify the lamp and its expected state
EmotionLight illuminates the interior. InfoLight is a separate floor-status feature where fitted. An interior-lamp question should not lead you through the floor-light menu or a TimeLight procedure from another model. Match the full E-Nr and the light location before troubleshooting. With the dishwasher stopped and cool, note whether the door has stood open for a long time. The one-hour timeout explains an extinguished interior light without proving a failed lamp. Closed-door darkness is also expected. There is no need to interrupt a hot cycle to inspect it.
Review the preference
The manual’s settings menu is entered through the Info button held for three seconds. It then uses < and > to scroll, and minus/plus to select the named preference. Find EmotionLight and follow the display’s exit/save directions. This named-text menu differs from Bosch guides that use encoded LED settings.
When the expectation still does not match
If EmotionLight is enabled and absent in the expected open-door state, record the full model suffix, setting and door-open duration for support. Do not remove the door skin or lamp assembly to test it. If other controls or operation also fail, report those separately rather than assuming a lamp fault explains everything.
What to record next
The page links the exact light’s state logic with the model’s text-menu controls. It prevents an interior lamp from being confused with the floor-running indicator.
When to stop and get help
Only carry out maintenance permitted in your model’s manual. For service, note the full model number and suffix, displayed code, selected cycle and what happened during the checks. Leave internal wiring, gas components, pumps and safety devices to a qualified professional. A symptom alone does not identify a failed part.
