DLEX4000W d80: Flow Sense and the installation check

Fixlume editorialSource check: October 16, 2026LG · dryers
The short answer

On the DLEX4000W, a Flow Sense warning directs attention to exhaust restriction. LG’s installation-check guidance maps the DLEX**00* family to Temp + Signal controls. Match that panel and the model manual before entering a test; a warning is not proof that the Flow Sense sensor has failed.

Models covered

DLEX4000W and matching full suffix/panel. The nearby DLE3600 family uses different test controls. Do not transfer its Temp + Energy Saver instructions to this model.

Before you begin
Stop for smoke, burning smells, abnormal heat or repeated breaker trips. Let the dryer cool before cleaning. Do not expose wiring, bypass interlocks or work on gas components. If gas is smelled, leave and call the utility or emergency services from a safe location.

Prerequisites and results are different

Match the model and panel before entering a test. Record the actual result; entering test mode is not a passing result.

Test sequence for the matched panel

  1. Start with the exhaust route

Stop and cool the appliance. Inspect the lint screen and safely visible transition duct. A clean screen does not establish that the house duct and exterior hood are clear.

  2. Match the installation-test controls

LG identifies Temp + Signal for this model family. The owner manual distinguishes control-panel types and power/button order. Follow the supplied revision; do not improvise a sequence if the expected InS indication does not appear.

  3. Record test and actual performance

For a permitted test, use an empty drum, closed door and the exact Start/Pause procedure. Record the result alongside real load performance. Keep testing conditions separate from an ordinary drying cycle.

  4. Use the correct professional route

Vent restrictions need duct correction before continued use. A heating or supply result needs electrical/appliance diagnosis. Do not bypass Flow Sense or run repeated hot loads to see whether the warning clears.

What to record next

A passed installation check does not prove that every hidden section of the exhaust duct is clear. Report a returning d80 warning, actual drying performance and the visible duct checks to the installer or qualified service.

When to stop and get help

Only carry out maintenance permitted in your model’s manual. For service, note the full model number and suffix, displayed code, selected cycle and what happened during the checks. Leave internal wiring, gas components, pumps and safety devices to a qualified professional. A symptom alone does not identify a failed part.
