LE indicates that the tub cannot spin normally. LG identifies overloading and an obstructing foreign object as possible causes. A code after a heavy load is not proof that the motor or rotor sensor needs replacement.
LG washers covered by LG’s LE support guidance; model-specific error tables take precedence. LE and an ordinary UE balance message are not interchangeable.
Wait for motion to stop and the door or lid to unlock. Water may be hot. Isolate power and follow the exact manual before any user filter maintenance. Never open a filter against a full drum, force a lock or bypass an interlock.
Compare the behavior
Reducing the load is a meaningful changed variable. It does not prove the motor is healthy, but it avoids turning a strain event into an unsupported replacement recommendation.
| Observed state | Interpretation / next step |
|---|---|
| LE only with unusually heavy load | Reduce load and verify its allowed cycle. |
| Accessible visible object | Remove with power off only if safe. |
| LE repeats after reduced load | Service diagnosis needed. |
Code-specific checks
Look at the load that preceded the stop
Record whether a blanket, dense wet towels or an unusually full load was present. Do not immediately restart the same load unchanged. Once normal access is permitted, unload or reduce it and inspect only the visible tub area with power off.
Keep the obstruction check external
LG allows removal of a visible accessible foreign object. Do not dismantle the wash plate, pull the drum, rotate the mechanism forcibly or work around energized moving parts. If an item cannot be removed without disassembly, stop and describe its location to service.
Use a changed condition to interpret a retry
LG describes unplugging for five minutes for a possible temporary LE event. If there are no other hazards, try an appropriately reduced load after the applicable reset. A repeat LE with that changed condition is more useful service evidence than ten starts with the original overloaded blanket. Follow the exact model’s bedding instructions for bulky articles.
If the warning returns
Overfull → reduce
Accessible obstruction → safe removal
Repeated LE → stop and request service.
When to stop and get help
Only carry out maintenance permitted in your model’s manual. For service, note the full model number and suffix, displayed code, selected cycle and what happened during the checks. Leave internal wiring, gas components, pumps and safety devices to a qualified professional. A symptom alone does not identify a failed part.
