Cold clothes at the end of a heated wash do not establish a heating fault because rinsing may use cold water. An actual tE display is different: LG associates it with a heater or temperature-sensor malfunction and directs inspection if it persists.
LG front-load washers with a Sanitary/heated cycle covered by the cited support guidance. Heating features and temperatures vary; no universal sanitizer-performance claim is made.
Wait for motion to stop and the door or lid to unlock. Water may be hot. Isolate power and follow the exact manual before any user filter maintenance. Never open a filter against a full drum, force a lock or bypass an interlock.
Compare the behavior
This comparison prevents a normal cold rinse from becoming a false heater diagnosis while taking a genuine temperature code seriously.
| Observed state | Interpretation / next step |
|---|---|
| No code; cool clothing after rinse | Not evidence by itself of failed wash heating. |
| tE actually displayed | Temperature/heater-system fault path. |
| tE returns after restart | Qualified inspection. |
Code-specific checks
Start with the display, not the final touch test
Note whether tE was actually shown or whether the concern is simply that the finished load feels cool. Photograph the code if present. The water and clothing temperature at unloading is an endpoint after rinsing, not a measurement of what happened during the heated wash stage.
Understand the cycle sequence
LG’s Sanitary explanation describes heating during washing and cold-water rinses to protect fabric. It also warns that internal execution cannot safely be verified from outside by touching hot areas. Do not open the door during heating, defeat the lock or use a hand in hot wash water as a temperature test.
Escalate a repeated actual code
For tE, follow the supplied manual’s safe power-off/restart instruction if there is no leak or electrical hazard. If tE returns, request service with the selected cycle and the stage at which it appeared. Repeating hot cycles does not determine whether the heater, sensor or another element of its circuit is responsible.
If the warning returns
Only cool endpoint → compare cycle design
Actual tE → applicable restart
Persistent tE → service.
When to stop and get help
Only carry out maintenance permitted in your model’s manual. For service, note the full model number and suffix, displayed code, selected cycle and what happened during the checks. Leave internal wiring, gas components, pumps and safety devices to a qualified professional. A symptom alone does not identify a failed part.
