Maytag documents rL/F34 and, on other supported platforms, F0 E7 as clothing detected during Clean Washer. Empty the basket and restart the maintenance cycle according to the model guide; it is not a laundry wash cycle.
rL/F34 front-load guidance and F0E7 top-load/front-load guidance concern a clothes-detected maintenance condition on covered models. The codes and control steps are not interchangeable across every washer.
Wait for motion to stop and the door or lid to unlock. Water may be hot. Isolate power and follow the exact manual before any user filter maintenance. Never open a filter against a full drum, force a lock or bypass an interlock.
Compare the behavior
Check whether the message appears during Clean Washer and whether the basket is empty. Code labels differ by model; similar cleaning reminders are not interchangeable across every washer.
| Observed state | Interpretation / next step |
|---|---|
| Clothing remains in basket | Remove it before Clean Washer. |
| Wanted to wash laundry | Choose a laundry cycle instead. |
| Empty basket; alert repeats | Record exact code/model and request service. |
Code-specific checks
Confirm the selected task
Clean Washer is intended to clean the appliance without clothes. A towel, small garment or other item left behind can conflict with that task. Remove all laundry before restarting; do not wash the next load in a maintenance cleaner just to make the alert disappear.
Match the message to the model
The display can differ across model generations. Match the complete code and model to the documented clothes-detected condition. Other F0 codes can mean something else.
If the basket is genuinely empty
Do not keep adding cleaner or repeatedly restarting an empty maintenance cycle to force acceptance. Record the full model, exact code and whether an ordinary cycle operates. Maytag’s F0E7 support directs persistent cases to service. A successful ordinary wash does not prove the maintenance detection system is normal.
If the warning returns
Empty the machine for maintenance
If the verified condition persists empty, stop repeated cleaner dosing and obtain support.
When to stop and get help
Only carry out maintenance permitted in your model’s manual. For service, note the full model number and suffix, displayed code, selected cycle and what happened during the checks. Leave internal wiring, gas components, pumps and safety devices to a qualified professional. A symptom alone does not identify a failed part.
