Int identifies a paused or canceled cycle on the covered front-load washers. Whirlpool allows 20–30 minutes for stopping and draining while that message remains displayed.
Whirlpool front-load models whose manual uses Int for an interrupted cycle; control labels and clearing methods vary.
Wait for motion to stop and the door or lid to unlock. Water may be hot. Isolate power and follow the exact manual before any user filter maintenance. Never open a filter against a full drum, force a lock or bypass an interlock.
Follow the drain path
Check the parts of this route that your manual permits you to access. Note where water flows and where you cannot confirm it. Do not open covers or components that require service access.
| Observed state | Interpretation / next step |
|---|---|
| Int soon after Cancel | Interrupted-cycle handling may still be running |
| Stops and drains within interval | Assess completed state before clearing |
| Water remains or another code appears | Follow the new drainage observation |
Code-specific checks
Start with the interruption
Note when Pause or Cancel was pressed and whether the washer was spinning. Time the response from that event rather than from when you first noticed the display. The message can remain while the washer carries out the stop-and-drain process.
Do not interrupt the response repeatedly
Allow the documented interval when there is no separate immediate hazard. Repeatedly canceling or disconnecting power makes it harder to know whether the stop sequence ever completed. Do not force the door while motion, hot water or retained water can make opening unsafe.
If it does not finish
After the documented interval, record whether water remains, whether the drum has stopped and whether a different code appears. Whirlpool describes clearing methods using Pause/Cancel twice or Power once, with a model-variation warning. Use the exact manual; persistent drainage failure belongs to its actual drain symptom.
If the warning returns
Within documented interval: wait safely
Beyond interval with retained water or a new code: record it and follow the drain branch.
When to stop and get help
Only carry out maintenance permitted in your model’s manual. For service, note the full model number and suffix, displayed code, selected cycle and what happened during the checks. Leave internal wiring, gas components, pumps and safety devices to a qualified professional. A symptom alone does not identify a failed part.
