The one-liter second bulk dispenser can hold liquid HE detergent or liquid fabric softener, but its configured contents must match what you put in it. Do not mix the products.
Models covered
WFW9620HW/WFW9620HW0 touchscreen XL Plus layout, with two bottom bulk compartments; not every Load & Go washer has this arrangement.
Wait for motion to stop and the door or lid to unlock. Water may be hot. Isolate power and follow the exact manual before any user filter maintenance. Never open a filter against a full drum, force a lock or bypass an interlock.
Compare the behavior
Match the documented control, cycle or feature before interpreting the result. The comparison below keeps normal model behavior separate from an unresolved fault.
| Observed state | Interpretation / next step |
|---|---|
| One-liter tank contains softener; setting says detergent | Contents and role disagree |
| Different detergent needed for one load | Use supported single-load override |
| Powder intended for bulk tank | Do not put it there |
Model-specific checks
Identify the two drawer systems
The bottom handle opens the bulk dispenser drawer. The separate upper-left drawer serves single loads. Looking at the wrong drawer can make an enabled bulk system appear not to dispense. The model’s user guide distinguishes the two-liter and one-liter reservoirs.
Match the setting to the contents
Use Tools and Load & Go Dispenser 2 in the exact model guide to select its role and, if detergent is selected, the appropriate concentration. Do not merely change what you pour into a reservoir while leaving its assigned role unchanged. Never combine detergent and fabric softener in that compartment.
Changing products needs care
Follow the manual’s cleaning and changeover instructions before changing the assigned product. Do not guess at a flush cycle from an all-in-one washer page. For a one-off different detergent, use the single-load drawer with bulk dosing disabled as the guide specifies. This avoids turning a temporary preference into a reservoir conversion.
What to record next
The physical tank size, assigned role and active dosing state all matter. Explaining those three checks is more useful than treating every dispensing complaint as a clogged drawer or a failed pump.
When to stop and get help
Only carry out maintenance permitted in your model’s manual. For service, note the full model number and suffix, displayed code, selected cycle and what happened during the checks. Leave internal wiring, gas components, pumps and safety devices to a qualified professional. A symptom alone does not identify a failed part.
