Opening the lid cancels Remote Enable. A washer can remain connected to Wi-Fi while no longer being armed for remote control.

WTW8127LW smart-capable console, W11436602C. App functions can depend on current service terms; ordinary washing from the panel does not require remote control.
Wait for motion to stop and the door or lid to unlock. Water may be hot. Isolate power and follow the exact manual before any user filter maintenance. Never open a filter against a full drum, force a lock or bypass an interlock.
Compare the behavior
Match the documented control, cycle or feature before interpreting the result. The comparison below keeps normal model behavior separate from an unresolved fault.
| Observed state | Interpretation / next step |
|---|---|
| Connected but not Remote Enabled | Connection exists; remote permission is absent |
| Lid reopened after enabling | Enable again after loading |
| Local cycle also fails | Investigate appliance behavior first |
Model-specific checks
Separate connection from permission
The reference sheet instructs owners to touch Remote Enable each time they want remote control. Loading another garment after enabling it changes that state. A connected icon is therefore insufficient evidence that a remote start command should run.
Try the local sequence first
Finish loading, close the lid and set the desired cycle. Enable remote control using the console and follow the current app instructions. If you reopen the lid, expect to enable it again. Do not use a remote command to work around a lid that cannot close or lock normally.
If enabling does not help
Record the console’s Remote Enable state and whether the washer responds locally. A local cycle that works points the investigation toward connection, account, app or remote settings; failure locally is a different appliance problem. Avoid factory resets until you know which layer fails, since resets can erase a working connection without addressing the lid-state requirement.
What to record next
The model has two independent states users often collapse into one: being online and being permitted to accept a remote action. The lid transition explains a repeatable change without asserting that the router or control board has failed.
When to stop and get help
Only carry out maintenance permitted in your model’s manual. For service, note the full model number and suffix, displayed code, selected cycle and what happened during the checks. Leave internal wiring, gas components, pumps and safety devices to a qualified professional. A symptom alone does not identify a failed part.
