Steam Refresh on MED7230HW is intended to refresh dry garments, not to dry a wet washer load. A small load can develop wet spots; first compare the load and selected cycle with the model cycle guide.
Models covered
MED7230HW steam-equipped electric dryer. Steam-cycle instructions do not apply to MED6230HW simply because it shares a quick-reference document.
Stop for smoke, burning smells, abnormal heat or repeated breaker trips. Let the dryer cool before cleaning. Do not expose wiring, bypass interlocks or work on gas components. If gas is smelled, leave and call the utility or emergency services from a safe location.
Compare the behavior
Match the documented control, cycle or feature before interpreting the result. The comparison below keeps normal model behavior separate from an unresolved fault.
| Observed state | Interpretation / next step |
|---|---|
| Dry garments; small load has spots | Review load suitability for Steam Refresh. |
| Wet washer load | Use an appropriate drying cycle. |
| Water while off | Stop and report a potential leak. |
Model-specific checks
What this cycle is doing
Steam Refresh uses heat and water to reduce odors and light wrinkles on suitable dry clothing. The model guide names shirts, blouses and slacks. Follow fabric labels and do not interpret the introduction of moisture during this cycle as proof of a leaking valve.
Distinguish three complaints
Wet spots after a very small refresh load differ from uniformly wet clothes transferred from a washer. The first asks whether the refresh load is appropriate; the second calls for a drying cycle. Water appearing when the machine is off is a third condition and should be reported separately rather than corrected by adding time.
Check supply without dismantling
If refresh does not work at all, verify that the documented water connection exists, its supply is on and the visible inlet hose is not kinked. Do not open an inlet valve or test live wiring. Persistent unexpected moisture or leakage after correct use requires service.
What to record next
Cycle purpose is the first branch: more water is not always a fault on a steam cycle, but off-cycle water should never be explained away as refresh behavior.
When to stop and get help
Only carry out maintenance permitted in your model’s manual. For service, note the full model number and suffix, displayed code, selected cycle and what happened during the checks. Leave internal wiring, gas components, pumps and safety devices to a qualified professional. A symptom alone does not identify a failed part.
