Ct means the vent test cannot run under the current temperature condition. It does not provide a valid airflow result. Let the dryer settle to room temperature and follow its model-specific retest guidance.
Samsung vent-test models that document Ct. Exact thresholds and recommended room-temperature ranges differ between general support and individual manuals.
Stop for smoke, burning smells, abnormal heat or repeated breaker trips. Let the dryer cool before cleaning. Do not expose wiring, bypass interlocks or work on gas components. If gas is smelled, leave and call the utility or emergency services from a safe location.
Compare the behavior
Ct concerns whether the test conditions are suitable. It is not a result proving an airflow restriction. Follow this model’s temperature requirements before repeating the test and record the next result.
| Observed state | Interpretation / next step |
|---|---|
| Ct after a hot cycle or temperature extremes | Allow documented settling before retest. |
| C80/C90 on valid retest | Follow the restriction-result route. |
| Ct returns in correct conditions | Seek model-specific diagnosis. |
Code-specific checks
Do not read Ct as a clog percentage
A test that reports a temperature prerequisite has not supplied the same result as C80/C90. Write down Ct separately. Cleaning the same filter repeatedly will not make an invalid temperature test into proof of a clear exhaust path.
Wait under the documented conditions
The general guide identifies below-freezing or above-104°F conditions and advises waiting an hour at room temperature. A specific manual may give a narrower recommended settling range; use that guidance for the appliance. Do not use a space heater directed at the dryer or alter temperature sensors.
Interpret the next result
After the dryer has settled, repeat the exact test with the drum empty. A new airflow code should be handled as that result. A repeated Ct under suitable conditions warrants support; it does not justify replacing the heater from a generic list.
If the warning returns
Settle, retest correctly, then follow the actual new result
Persistent Ct needs service guidance.
When to stop and get help
Only carry out maintenance permitted in your model’s manual. For service, note the full model number and suffix, displayed code, selected cycle and what happened during the checks. Leave internal wiring, gas components, pumps and safety devices to a qualified professional. A symptom alone does not identify a failed part.
