FE reports overfilling on applicable LG washers. If water enters while the washer is not in use, close the inlet water supply if safely accessible and request inspection. A software reset cannot be relied on to stop continued water entry.
LG washers whose manual defines FE as overfill, with particular attention to LG front-load guidance for water entering when not in use. This is not an OE drain-code page.
Wait for motion to stop and the door or lid to unlock. Water may be hot. Isolate power and follow the exact manual before any user filter maintenance. Never open a filter against a full drum, force a lock or bypass an interlock.
Trace the supply and the reported state
The valuable branch is whether water continues to enter independently of a wash command. It moves the answer from “reset this code” to controlling a potential overflow.
| Observed state | Interpretation / next step |
|---|---|
| Tub visibly filling while unused | Close supply safely and arrange inspection. |
| Small stable moisture pool after wet laundry | Different observation; monitor context, not an FE diagnosis. |
| FE returns or water cannot be controlled | Stop use and obtain help. |
Code-specific checks
Respond to moving water before the display
If the tub level is rising, focus on safely stopping the inlet supply rather than clearing the code. Do not reach electrical controls or an outlet through standing water. If the supply valves cannot be reached safely or water continues to escape, get immediate building/plumbing assistance appropriate to the situation.
Distinguish new inlet water from retained water
After a completed cycle, a small amount of moisture pooling from laundry is not the same observation as the tub filling while unused. Note whether the level rises over time, whether the machine is powered off and whether shutting the supply stops it. Do not deliberately flood-test the appliance to prove the symptom.
Hand over evidence without naming a failed part
LG directs inspection for water filling the drum when the washer is not in use. Record FE, model, timing and the supply-valve response for service. A valve or sensing problem requires diagnosis; this observation alone is not enough to select a replacement part or adjust an internal mechanism.
If the warning returns
Rising level → safe supply isolation
Stable residual moisture → document context
Repeated FE → service.
When to stop and get help
Only carry out maintenance permitted in your model’s manual. For service, note the full model number and suffix, displayed code, selected cycle and what happened during the checks. Leave internal wiring, gas components, pumps and safety devices to a qualified professional. A symptom alone does not identify a failed part.
