A full tank and a continuing refill alert are not automatically evidence of a failed dispensing pump. The WM6700HBA manual directs cleaning residue from the reservoir level sensor and checking that the fill is sufficient; a continuous alarm after those checks needs service.

Wait for motion to stop and the door or lid to unlock. Water may be hot. Isolate power and follow the exact manual before any user filter maintenance. Never open a filter against a full drum, force a lock or bypass an interlock.
Compare the behavior
Match the documented control, cycle or feature before interpreting the result. The comparison below keeps normal model behavior separate from an unresolved fault.
| Observed state | Interpretation / next step |
|---|---|
| Tank below sensing level | Correct the fill without exceeding MAX. |
| Residue on level-sensing area | Clean the reservoir as documented. |
| Alarm continuous after maintenance | Arrange service; do not buy a pump from this symptom alone. |
Model-specific checks
Separate the alert from the wash result
Record whether the message concerns detergent or softener. Also note whether liquid actually remains unchanged across washes. A level warning and a failure to dispense are different observations; combining them can send you toward the wrong remedy. Check the selected dispenser state before assuming every reservoir is active.
Inspect the reservoir rather than the drum
With the appliance stopped, remove and clean the reservoir as the manual permits. Use warm water and a soft brush on residue inside, including the fluid-level sensing area. Refit the covers and drawer correctly. Fill only to the marked maximum; overflowing the compartment is not a sensor test.
Read the next result
If the alert clears after cleaning and correct filling, keep a note of the product used and watch the next ordinary load. If it remains continuously displayed, follow the manual’s service instruction. Do not disable an alert merely to make an unexplained dispensing problem disappear.
What to record next
The useful distinction is between liquid quantity, sensor contamination and delivered dose. A photo of the full reservoir beside the exact warning gives service more information than “the dispenser is broken.”
When to stop and get help
Only carry out maintenance permitted in your model’s manual. For service, note the full model number and suffix, displayed code, selected cycle and what happened during the checks. Leave internal wiring, gas components, pumps and safety devices to a qualified professional. A symptom alone does not identify a failed part.
