Use Default Det. Dispense to adjust the baseline for the detergent you actually buy. Do not treat the factory amount as the correct dose for every concentration, and do not compensate for a dose problem by filling the reservoir less.

Wait for motion to stop and the door or lid to unlock. Water may be hot. Isolate power and follow the exact manual before any user filter maintenance. Never open a filter against a full drum, force a lock or bypass an interlock.
Compare the behavior
Match the documented control, cycle or feature before interpreting the result. The comparison below keeps normal model behavior separate from an unresolved fault.
| Observed state | Interpretation / next step |
|---|---|
| Correct delivery but excess residue | Review detergent concentration and baseline. |
| Softener dose wrong | Use the softener default, not the detergent default. |
| No delivery at all | Check activation/maintenance before adjusting dose. |
Model-specific checks
Translate the bottle into a starting amount
Read the detergent’s normal-load instructions and concentration. LG’s manual explains a bottle-volume divided by labeled-loads calculation. Use consistent fluid units; do not confuse the reservoir’s total capacity with one load’s dose. Treat the result as a label-based starting point rather than a laboratory measurement of delivered liquid.
Change the correct setting
Go through Options to Additional Settings and select Default Det. Dispense. The cited manual lists 0.1 fl oz (3 ml) adjustments over 0.3–4.0 fl oz (9–120 ml). Save the setting. Default Soft. Dispense is a different item; changing it will not correct a detergent baseline.
Separate dose selection from delivery failure
If the amount is inappropriate but liquid is delivered, configuration is relevant. If the liquid never dispenses, a new numeric default does not explain the blockage or fault. Keep a record of the product, selected baseline, load type and observed residue for a useful comparison on the next normal wash.
What to record next
The detergent baseline is a setting used by the dispensing system. It is not a guarantee that every load receives exactly the same measured amount. Match the setting to the detergent concentration and monitor the wash result.
When to stop and get help
Only carry out maintenance permitted in your model’s manual. For service, note the full model number and suffix, displayed code, selected cycle and what happened during the checks. Leave internal wiring, gas components, pumps and safety devices to a qualified professional. A symptom alone does not identify a failed part.
