MVW6230HW provides Auto, Medium, High and Max Fill choices. Auto still bases water on sensed load size; it is not the deepest-water setting. More water also means more filling time.
Models covered
MVW6230HW quick-reference control family, with the four documented Deep Fill levels. Match the supplied guide and actual display.
Wait for motion to stop and the door or lid to unlock. Water may be hot. Isolate power and follow the exact manual before any user filter maintenance. Never open a filter against a full drum, force a lock or bypass an interlock.
Compare the behavior
Match the documented control, cycle or feature before interpreting the result. The comparison below keeps normal model behavior separate from an unresolved fault.
| Observed state | Interpretation / next step |
|---|---|
| Auto | Load-sensed water level. |
| Medium/High/Max Fill | Chosen deeper level; allow additional fill time. |
| No incoming water or fill alert | A separate supply problem needs attention. |
Model-specific checks
Read the chosen level
Use the Deep Fill control to identify the selected level rather than assuming the option name means a full basket. Auto is the sensed baseline. Medium, High and Max Fill request progressively deeper levels within the cycle’s permitted settings.
Compare like with like
Judge two loads only after noting the selected cycle, load and level. The product listing specifies that Bulky Items uses the deepest level. A low fill observed on a different cycle is not an equivalent comparison. Do not add buckets of water or obstruct sensing to force a desired appearance.
When filling is actually a concern
If both supplies are open but a requested level is not reached, record any fill code and whether water is visibly escaping down the drain. If the load completes normally but you dislike the amount of water, first use the documented setting that suits the load. A setting preference is not a reason to replace an inlet valve.
What to record next
A fair diagnostic comparison holds the cycle and load constant. Otherwise a cycle restriction can look like an intermittent level fault.
When to stop and get help
Only carry out maintenance permitted in your model’s manual. For service, note the full model number and suffix, displayed code, selected cycle and what happened during the checks. Leave internal wiring, gas components, pumps and safety devices to a qualified professional. A symptom alone does not identify a failed part.
