WF45K6500AV AddWash Will Not Open During a Hot Cycle

Fixlume editorialSource check: October 16, 2026Samsung · washers
The short answer

Pause only when the Add Wash indication permits adding laundry. A running or hot cycle can prevent opening; forcing the small hatch is not a safe diagnostic test.

Hot water and steam can injure. Never force either door.

Before you begin
Wait for motion to stop and the door or lid to unlock. Water may be hot. Isolate power and follow the exact manual before any user filter maintenance. Never open a filter against a full drum, force a lock or bypass an interlock.

Compare the behavior

Match the documented control, cycle or feature before interpreting the result. The comparison below keeps normal model behavior separate from an unresolved fault.

Model-specific checks

The small hatch is still a locked door

AddWash reduces the need to open the main door, but does not remove temperature and operating-state restrictions. Samsung documents that the doors cannot be opened when water exceeds 50°C. Wait for a safe state rather than testing the latch with increasing pressure.

Use the indication and pause sequence

The exact-family manual describes the Add Wash indicator as the cue to stop and add laundry. Pause, wait for safe release, then follow the illustrated hatch procedure. Close it correctly before resuming. Never push the small hatch to close the entire main door; the manual warns against that loading of the assembly.

When a code changes the task

A hatch that is safely closed but produces ddC or dC3 needs the Add Door checks. A hot, locked door with no code is a different condition. Record the temperature, cycle and whether the error appeared before or after touching the hatch.

What to record next

Normal access restrictions and a failed closure confirmation can look similar to a person pulling the hatch. Keeping them separate prevents unnecessary latch replacement and unsafe opening attempts.

When to stop and get help

Only carry out maintenance permitted in your model’s manual. For service, note the full model number and suffix, displayed code, selected cycle and what happened during the checks. Leave internal wiring, gas components, pumps and safety devices to a qualified professional. A symptom alone does not identify a failed part.
