The R6300 electric dryer uses Smart Control for remote operation; the gas counterpart uses Smart Monitor. The manual deliberately distinguishes those capabilities. A gas model’s monitoring-only behavior is not fixed by borrowing the electric model’s setup.
Models covered
DVE45R6300* electric and DVG45R6300* gas variants in the shared R6300/R6100 manual. R6100 networking is excluded.
Stop for smoke, burning smells, abnormal heat or repeated breaker trips. Let the dryer cool before cleaning. Do not expose wiring, bypass interlocks or work on gas components. If gas is smelled, leave and call the utility or emergency services from a safe location.
Compare the behavior
Match the documented control, cycle or feature before interpreting the result. The comparison below keeps normal model behavior separate from an unresolved fault.
| Observed state | Interpretation / next step |
|---|---|
| DVE45R6300 electric | Smart Control supports remote operation when correctly enabled. |
| DVG45R6300 gas | Smart Monitor is monitoring only. |
| R6100 suffix | Do not assume the R6300 network feature applies. |
Model-specific checks
Read the fourth character
Confirm DVE versus DVG on the appliance label before troubleshooting the app. Both appear in one manual. The manufacturer’s R6300 specification explicitly limits the gas model to monitoring for safety reasons.
Check the local control state
On the electric variant, remote operation requires the documented Smart Control state at the appliance. Being visible in the app is not the same as waiting for remote commands. Use the button and indicators described for your exact panel; do not attempt to keep a safety-related state active through modifications.
Report a real connection problem precisely
If an electric model previously supported commands but now only shows status, record the local indicator, app message and full model. If it is a gas model that only reports status, that is the documented feature boundary. This comparison should come before a router reset or control-board diagnosis.
Interpret the comparison
Capability, connection and local permission are separate questions. Answering them in that order avoids troubleshooting a safety limitation as a software defect.
When to stop and get help
Only carry out maintenance permitted in your model’s manual. For service, note the full model number and suffix, displayed code, selected cycle and what happened during the checks. Leave internal wiring, gas components, pumps and safety devices to a qualified professional. A symptom alone does not identify a failed part.
