Adjust Time is for Manual Dry cycles on this family. It is unavailable during Sensor Dry because that selection determines duration from the load’s moisture condition.

DV3400T DC68-03784M manufacturer manual, control description and cycle overview. Use these checks when the time adjustment controls are unavailable; a cycle ending early needs a different comparison.
Stop for smoke, burning smells, abnormal heat or repeated breaker trips. Let the dryer cool before cleaning. Do not expose wiring, bypass interlocks or work on gas components. If gas is smelled, leave and call the utility or emergency services from a safe location.
Compare the behavior
Match the documented control, cycle or feature before interpreting the result. The comparison below keeps normal model behavior separate from an unresolved fault.
| Observed state | Interpretation / next step |
|---|---|
| Sensor Dry selected | Use the dryness target; Adjust Time is unavailable. |
| TIME DRY selected | Use the documented time control. |
| Compatible selection still unresponsive | Record exact state for support. |
Model-specific checks
Check the cycle group
Read whether the selected cycle belongs to Sensor Dry or Manual Dry. A time estimate on the display does not necessarily mean the duration is user-editable. The manual groups these modes separately for precisely this reason.
Choose a time-based task deliberately
TIME DRY lets you specify minutes; Sensor Dry uses your dryness selection instead. Change to a compatible Manual Dry cycle only if timed operation is appropriate for the fabric. Keep the garment care label and permitted temperature in view when changing modes.
When a control problem remains
If Adjust Time still fails on a documented compatible cycle while the dryer is idle, record that cycle and the panel state. That is stronger evidence than its failure on Sensor Dry. Do not diagnose a keypad or buy a control board based on an intentionally unavailable option.
What to record next
A changing estimate and a customizable countdown are different interfaces. This comparison tells the owner whether the failed button test was valid in the first place.
When to stop and get help
Only carry out maintenance permitted in your model’s manual. For service, note the full model number and suffix, displayed code, selected cycle and what happened during the checks. Leave internal wiring, gas components, pumps and safety devices to a qualified professional. A symptom alone does not identify a failed part.
