In Samsung’s documented Smart Install check, touching the moisture bars should change the display from 0 to 1. That observes a sensor-input response; it does not prove that every load will make adequate contact during a drying cycle.
Only dryers covered by Samsung’s owner-facing Smart Install instructions. Do not use this test if an error code is already displayed or if the panel does not match the documented controls.
Stop for smoke, burning smells, abnormal heat or repeated breaker trips. Let the dryer cool before cleaning. Do not expose wiring, bypass interlocks or work on gas components. If gas is smelled, leave and call the utility or emergency services from a safe location.
Prerequisites and results are different
Match the model and panel before entering a test. Record the actual result; entering test mode is not a passing result.

Code-specific checks
Use the owner-facing test
With the dryer empty and on, the Samsung guide specifies Time Up plus Temp until AS appears, or Option plus Temp for the indicated Smart Control panel. If these controls do not match, stop and consult the exact manual rather than exploring service menus.
Observe the bars before starting the drum
Open the door and touch the accessible moisture bars as the official check shows. Watch for the 0-to-1 change, record the result, then remove your hand. Close the door before pressing Start for the subsequent spinning test. Do not reach into a moving drum or manipulate the door interlock.
Interpret a passing response narrowly
A change establishes that the test registered your contact at that moment. It does not show how a small or mixed laundry load contacts the bars in normal operation. If the response never changes, record the result for support; do not infer a specific board, harness or bar replacement from this check alone.
If the warning returns
Matching panel and no current code: perform the official check safely
Mismatch or unresponsive result: exact-model support.
When to stop and get help
Only carry out maintenance permitted in your model’s manual. For service, note the full model number and suffix, displayed code, selected cycle and what happened during the checks. Leave internal wiring, gas components, pumps and safety devices to a qualified professional. A symptom alone does not identify a failed part.
