A vent sensor icon is an airflow-maintenance signal, not the same event as manually running a Vent Blockage Test. Its solid or blinking behavior must be interpreted using the model’s maintenance table.
Vented Samsung models equipped with the documented Vent Sensor. The BG8300 manual is a scoped example; do not assume every dryer has this sensor or identical thresholds.
Stop for smoke, burning smells, abnormal heat or repeated breaker trips. Let the dryer cool before cleaning. Do not expose wiring, bypass interlocks or work on gas components. If gas is smelled, leave and call the utility or emergency services from a safe location.
Compare the behavior
An ongoing Vent Sensor indication and an installation-test result are different observations. Record whether the icon is steady or blinking and when it appears; repeatedly clearing it does not restore airflow.
| Observed state | Interpretation / next step |
|---|---|
| Solid vent icon | Follow the model’s first-level maintenance guidance. |
| Blinking after completion | Compare its higher warning level and documented persistence. |
| C80/C90 after a manually entered test | Use the separate test-result guide. |
Code-specific checks
Read the state and timing
Note whether the icon is solid during/after operation or blinking after completion. The manufacturer’s maintenance table distinguishes warning levels. It does not turn a percentage estimate into a map showing exactly where lint is located.
Compare the complete exhaust route
Start with documented lint-filter maintenance and arrange assessment of the connected duct if the warning persists. Include the exterior termination and any visible crushed transition connection in the description. A clean removable filter alone does not answer a duct warning.
Do not confuse icon persistence with a new fault
Some documented models continue blinking after the cycle finishes. Compare the exact duration and state with the manual before concluding the display is stuck. If the warning recurs after full-route maintenance, give the installer/service provider the model, warning state and work already completed.
If the warning returns
Identify the state, complete the applicable maintenance and arrange a full-route assessment when it recurs.
When to stop and get help
Only carry out maintenance permitted in your model’s manual. For service, note the full model number and suffix, displayed code, selected cycle and what happened during the checks. Leave internal wiring, gas components, pumps and safety devices to a qualified professional. A symptom alone does not identify a failed part.
