This model can change its softener reservoir to a second detergent reservoir using Softener Tank Use. Empty and clean that reservoir, then run ezDispense Nozzle Clean before converting it; pouring detergent into a tank still configured for softener is not the same operation.

Wait for motion to stop and the door or lid to unlock. Water may be hot. Isolate power and follow the exact manual before any user filter maintenance. Never open a filter against a full drum, force a lock or bypass an interlock.
Compare the behavior
Match the documented control, cycle or feature before interpreting the result. The comparison below keeps normal model behavior separate from an unresolved fault.
| Observed state | Interpretation / next step |
|---|---|
| Softener remains in tank | Empty and clean before converting. |
| Tank washed but hose not flushed | Complete the documented nozzle-clean task. |
| Tank role and contents disagree | Correct the configuration before a load. |
Model-specific checks
Decide what the second tank should do
This setting is useful for an owner who does not use liquid fabric softener. It is a reservoir-role setting, not an instruction to mix fabric softener with detergent. First identify which liquid is already in the smaller tank and save its container information.
Prepare the liquid path before switching
Empty and wash the reservoir before adding the new product. Select the documented nozzle-clean function so residual liquid in the connected hose is addressed as well. Drawer cleaning alone leaves a different part of the dispensing path untreated. Follow the on-screen cleaning prompts.
Change the setting deliberately
Open Options, choose Additional Settings with the knob and OK control, and locate Softener Tank Use. Choose the intended reservoir role and save the setting. Check that the product you add matches that choice before washing. Do not copy button combinations from older button-panel ezDispense models.
What to record next
A reservoir has both a physical content and a software role. Keeping those two aligned prevents a configuration problem from being mistaken for an unreliable dispenser.
When to stop and get help
Only carry out maintenance permitted in your model’s manual. For service, note the full model number and suffix, displayed code, selected cycle and what happened during the checks. Leave internal wiring, gas components, pumps and safety devices to a qualified professional. A symptom alone does not identify a failed part.
