Maytag Int and a Locked Door After Canceling

Fixlume editorialSource check: October 16, 2026Maytag · washers
Code meaning & immediate answer

Int indicates a paused or canceled cycle. Maytag says the washer can take 20–30 minutes to stop spinning and drain while Int remains displayed; canceling does not necessarily produce an immediate door release.

Maytag front-load washers covered by Int guidance. Control names and message-clearing methods vary by model; this is not a universal button sequence.

Before you begin
Wait for motion to stop and the door or lid to unlock. Water may be hot. Isolate power and follow the exact manual before any user filter maintenance. Never open a filter against a full drum, force a lock or bypass an interlock.

Compare the behavior

The interruption message describes why the cycle ended; it does not identify a broken latch. Timing and actual drain behavior are the useful next observations.

Code-specific checks

Read the interruption before clearing the display

Did someone pause or cancel a running cycle? That context fits the documented meaning. Record the approximate time and whether the pump or drum is still active. Do not force the door because the wash command has ended; safe stopping and draining are separate processes. Maytag lists Pause/Cancel and Power methods but explicitly says the method varies by model. Use the owner guide that matches the panel. Removing the letters from the display is not proof the drum is stopped, cool or empty, and the latch must not be bypassed.

Recognize a persistent problem

If the normal stopping/draining window passes and the machine still cannot complete, note retained water and any full error code. Use the relevant drain or lock route instead of repeatedly canceling. Leaks, overheating or electrical symptoms are reasons to stop and obtain help rather than wait for the usual interruption sequence.

If the warning returns

Allow safe completion first

Persistent lock or drain failure needs model-specific assistance.

When to stop and get help

Only carry out maintenance permitted in your model’s manual. For service, note the full model number and suffix, displayed code, selected cycle and what happened during the checks. Leave internal wiring, gas components, pumps and safety devices to a qualified professional. A symptom alone does not identify a failed part.
